it's comments like this, esp publicly from gallo, that probably made her anorexic.
Well, Gallo is a complete *beep* of course.
But Christina Ricci is not the first young woman turned anorexic by the Hollywood fame machine and prevailing culture there. Not by a long shot. Ariana Grande is the latest victim I've noticed.
you might have enjoyed her performance *despite* her appearance. I'm saying she looked refreshingly healthy, confident, genuine, natural that attributed to the magic of her character.
Well...not sure I'd use those terms to describe her character. I think was meant to be portrayed as an insecure, lost girl sporting too much make-up, not enough exercise, pasty white skin, overindulging on food a bit (chocolate, heh) with a thrift store/bowling alley sense of fashion. But I understand that these are traits that some men find attractive.
It was the right look for the part. This is the only sort of girl who would find Billy attractive. Let's face it, a self-confident, well-paid professional woman with a hip sense of fashion, who maintains a healthy, active lifestyle is NOT going to be attracted to an abusive loser who just got out of prison.
it makes me sad to hear that gallo disparaged her weight after filming.
He really is a jackass. He is like 20 years older than her and has no business commenting on the appearance of a 17 year old girl. Especially a girl who just provided a fantastic performance which elevated his rather self-indulgent, semi-autobiographical masterpiece to critical acclaim it never would have received without her.
