shareKidnapping is not a male fantasy. If anything it's a female fantasy, and even then it's not as common as some people say.
shareBoth sexes actually fantasize about kidnapping. Women's porn ("romance novels") is has more rape fantasies than kidnapping, but it happens in the genre. But straight men are the most likely to use the trope of kidnapping an attractive woman who falls in love with the kidnapper, instead of sending him to jail or killing him in his sleep, like a real life kidnapping victim would.
shareI wouldn't call it 'dumb' but I did find it to be kind of pointless. Although, it's been a long time since I've seen it. I might have a different opinion on it today.
It does remind of that Shannon Whirry movie called Private Obsession, another film featuring stockholm syndrome. But PO is much more sexually explicit.
