Hard to believe a 26/27 year old made this movie.

I mean, wow.

I guess he had practiced a lot.

PTA is a legit genius.

Do you mean like Whalberg was able to pull off by playing a 17 year old when in reality he was a 26 year old? I mean yeah. It was hard to believe, he looked maybe a bit too “mature” and muscular.

I do believe that Orson Welles made Citizen Kane at 26.

And wasn't Spielberg not much older when he made Jaws?

It is pretty impressive, being able to take command of a huge budget studio picture at such a young age. On the other hand, if you have the chutzpah to get access to that budget and those resources...you at least have professionals all around you to "actually make the film." (The director of cinematograpy, the film editor, the music composer -- and, if you can land them, great actors.)

Still, no doubt..PTA is one of those guys who launched young and did NOT burn out.

Apparently he was old enough to well remember the period from the late 70s to early 80s because he did a great job capturing it.
