Legitimate question: Why do so many people dislike George Clooney?

Besides of course, his participation in Batman & Robin!

I didn't realize many people disliked him. I thought he was quite popular as an actor. And as a person, he's hilarious - the pranks he and Richard Kind play on each other are aspirational:

Smarmy, judgmental, condescending. He comes across like a real prick. His one note acting shtick has also been stretched real thin. I used to be a fan like everybody else. But somewhere along the way, you could actually feel Clooney's disdain for us the common rabble come right through the camera, no matter what role he was playing. It's like he can't put aside his political activist self and become the actor anymore.

That reminds me of when George Clooney was making his Oscar acceptance speech, which would later be the basis of that running gag in the "Smug Alert" episode of South Park. While talking up Hollywood's liberal, and accepting credentials - He specifically cited Hattie McDaniel winning an Oscar as proof of this supposed liberal utopia. Of course, Clooney failed to mention that McDaniel was forbidden to attend the premier of her own movie. And also at the Oscar ceremony, she was placed at a side table away from her white co stars.

Also remember when George Clooney went on TV to publicly chastise the paparazzi for their apparent role in Princess Diana's death? But then, it turned out that it wasn't exactly so "cut and dry" when it was discovered that Diana's driver, Henri Paul, was speeding while intoxicated.

Lady Di was murdered. That's an illumanti shit storm all about it.

I always thought he was a person who truly had ability when it comes to acting, but people seem to annoyed by his Clooney personality and I don't think the two should go together like this and some other films. Therefore referring to his lead role in Michael Clayton. Will need to watch Syriana again and The Descendants.

He doesn't have that in you face look that Michael Keaton has.

You need an actor who can distinguish between Batman and Bruce Wayne, Clooney does not have that, Clooney is himself in every movie he's in, he's not someone who disappears in whatever role like Keaton does.

Other than his nutty Hollyweirdian politics, he's fine. His box office draw isn't what it used to be though. It happens to everyone, except Tom Cruise.
