Do you think Joey and Pacey lasted after the finale?

In their last scene, they were both about 25 and living together in New York, and it was 2008. In that fictional world, do you think they are still together in 2016?

I don't. Them getting back together would have made no sense in real life. They were a couple in high school and it ended with a blowup. Then they tried again a couple of years later, and she turned him down for some guy who was really more of a casual relationship than anything else. Of course, that was explained later by saying she had been running from her relationship with Pacey all along, but that seemed like a copout. In high school, it was he who dumped her, not the other way around. In college, she literally told him she just wasn't feeling it for him and went back to Eddie. Then, 5 years later, they meet up after really not being in contact at all and magically end up happily ever after? I don't really buy it.

In high school, Pacey was always intimidated by the bond she had with Dawson even though she had chosen him over Dawson. Now that she has officially declared Dawson as her "soulmate," how is that not going to be an issue? That's Joey having her cake and eating it too - having Dawson as her soulmate and Pacey as the guy she's sleeping with. I just really think that would have caused a rift between them at some point. I don't see these two growing old together at all. Maybe they stayed together for a year and then went their separate ways. Pacey and Andie ended up finding each other again, and Joey ended up back with Dawson (after the two of them both had time for some much needed maturing).

I think they would be. If the writers hadn't botched it, they would've believably been together through high school and college. The breakup came out of nowhere for everyone and made no sense. Even now, 15 years later, I watch that episode and it's so confusing because there is no lead-up to it. Pacey and Joey were the most realistic couple featured on the show.

Dawson was never - ever - the right fit. They were together for a month or two (at random) and then would break up and start the cycle all over again. They were absolutely toxic together and could never hold it together for longer than an episode before having a blowup. Even their first date, Joey left him at the theater - that's a pretty strong statement at the beginning of the relationship. Dawson and Joey were a nightmare to watch when the show was new and we had to wait week to week to see what new angst their relationship would be.

Pacey and Joey had a few issues here and there, but was much closer to real life. They were stable, they clearly loved each other, and they supported each other in everything. Honestly, they laid the foundation for this relationship to go the distance and then goofed.

Kevin Williamson even said when he was invited back to write the finale that he sat down and originally had Dawson and Joey together. But after catching up on the series, the choice was clear on who her true love was meant to be.

I agree. Dawson and Joey were great as friends but when they dated I really wanted a bazooka.

I think "stable" is the last word I'd use to describe their relationship. It was a mess from the get-go. Watch season 4 again - they have a fight/argument EVERY SINGLE EPISODE.

They sucked at communication. Pacey was insecure. Joey was hung up on Dawson (who was happily dating someone else). Pacey was a trainwreck who barely finished high school. Joey was moving on.

Dawson and Joey was toxic, but so was Pacey and Joey.

Well, they both usually run away as soon as things get tough. I'd love to think that they are still together. I've met people broke up around the age of 18 and when they met again years later. They clicked right away and their new "grownup" relationship is much stronger and healthier.
I know their first relationship lasted for just about a year.

No way.

Joey was a snob and Pacey was blue collar. She would soon tire of him and look for some guy who attended a top level college like she did.

In the beginning, I was a huge Dawson and Joey fan. Then in season one when Pacey has a crush on Joey for an episode, I said I really like them together. They had a lot of chemistry etc. I was then torn between Dawson/Joey and Pacey/Joey. Couldn't decide for awhile. When I did, it was definitely Joey and Pacey. IM0, it became like what was I thinking when I said Joey and Dawson.

I honestly don't know if they would or not if this was real life but since this is fiction and it was obviously the writers intent to show that they ended up together I am going to say yes. However, even if they didn't that doesn't mean she would be with Dawson. The fact is every time Joey and Dawson were together she dumped him. The fact is both times that she had a choice between Dawson and Pacey she chose Pacey. Before that she chose Jack. Dawson is obviously not what she really wants, get over it.

"Pacey, you may be my fuck buddy, but Dawson is my soulmate. Is that okay with you?" "Don't worry about it. You may be my fuck buddy, but Andie is my soulmate."
