This film felt like reservoir dogs
i just could not shake the feeling the entire time. it was Meandering slow dialogue scenes focused on characters.

shareI saw it come up here and watched it the other night. It was crap. If there was a character arc it was too subtle. It was a waste of time.
sharei have to concur.Mike was an almost complete depressed sourpuss in the beginning (despite still going to Vegas) by the end i did not see what in his arc changed. He continued to be a sourpuss every time he went out and he failed, which he always did. All that changed was in the final scene (second last) he met a new hot lady. Nothing abut his attitude or perspective or person had really morphed or was different. He was still depressed, and still thinking about his ex.
His arc could have been told more competently as he moved from depressed and isolated, to depressed and forced to socialize, to less depressed and wanting to socialize, to eager to socialize and found a new love and is happy.
I'm forced to recognize that the point of the movie was that if one wants to get over heartbreak simply find another relationship, and that is not healthy at all in my experience. The causes and conditions need to be examined and the results of that examination need to be acted upon. None of the characters were comfortable in their own skin and it was a parade of foolish and unhealthy behaviors.
shareYeah it was done on purpose. The 90s were a great time for independent films.
