I watched this yesterday after not seeing it for 18 years.

I first started watching horror movies when I was 11. I knew about Scream, but I didn't get around to watching it until 99 when I was 13. It quickly became my favorite horror movie. Scream was my go to film in my early to mid teens, anytime I was bored, & didn't have anything else to do I would just put it in. I think I watched it at least every couple of weeks for about a two year period. Its crazy when we are young how we can watch things over, & over being infinitely entertained lol.

So I'm 34 now, & have just recently got back into horror movies again. Its been over 10 years since I have really been into them. I haven't had much to do since the pandemic started so I dug out my DVD collection & started watching the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, & Halloween films. I never actually owned Scream on DVD or BluRay, so I went ahead & ordered it online because obviously I wanted to see my old favorite horror movie in HD instead of digging out my VHS.

I was pretty excited so I went and stocked up on some beer, and got some pizza. It was really great watching this on a big HDTV after not seeing it for so many years, & I plan on watching it again tonight! It really is a revolutionary horror movie that holds up much better than a lot of other horror classics. Any other passionate fans out there?

Love this movie! I had a VHS tape and my VCR broke a long time ago.

I bought the DVD and later, the rest of the Scream movies.

I never get tired of them. I usually have a marathon for myself every year around Halloween. Other times I get in the mood and watch Scream and maybe one other. They never get old.

But one silly thing, aftr repeated viewings I started to yell at Casey to "hang onto that knife" in the opening scene in the kitchen. She could have used it to defend herself.

reply

I think she is shown holding the knife while hiding next to the patio door when she first goes outside.

reply

She should have hung onto that knife! lol I know it's easy to suggest what a character should have done from the vantage point of safety while watching a movie. I do it a lot.

But she should have called the police, despite the killer telling her that they'd never get there on time. Then, take that block of knives off the kitchen counter and lock herself in the bathroom instead of parading in front of the glass doors like an easy target.

I would have been in the bathroom with the knives. The killer may have gotten to me. But I wouldn't go down without a fight.

I’m a huge fan of this franchise! My favorite movie of all time is the first Scream. I watched a good amount of Horror before but it was Scream that made me a huge Horror fan! I watched it in 1997 when I was 12 and then watched Scream 2 at the theater a short while later that year. Some people say it didn’t age well but I beg to differ. New Horror doesn’t come close to Scream and other slashers like Halloween (1978) and A Nightmare on Elm St (1984).

It’s a masterpiece. I even made my own edit, reinserting the NC-17 footage from the Japanese DVD into an HD download of the film,

Is there.much extra footage? What are the differences?

Cheers! Not much difference really.

Is that the version that contains more shots of Steve's guts and Stu's blood dripping onto the kitchen floor?

It was my favourite movie as a teen after seeing it on the big screen. And it's still one of my favourites now.

This movie will always have a special nostalgic place in my mind.

I was 15 when it came out. I stole my mothers car, even though I only had a learners permit, and took a girl I had been into for a long time to go see it. Lost my virginity to her a few hours later.

Every time I watch it, it takes me back to my teen years.

Damn Ferris Bueller 😂😂😂😂😂😂

reply

Ohhhhh if only my mother had had that Ferrari, and not a busted old Subaru station wagon. I might have gotten laid on the WAY to the movie, lol.

Oops I did it again 😂😂😂

Sounds very romantic 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I’ve been watching it quite a bit lately too.. it’s just such a great film. I’m glad you’re enjoying it again.
I am an absolute lover of 80’s horror, but Scream is great!

your set up got me in the mood. lol.

This is my go-to horror movie, especially when I'm feeling a bit nostalgic for the '90s (I was in my 20s back then).

If someone wasn't an adult back then, it's hard to understand the impact this movie had at the time of its release. There hadn't been a horror movie like it, and some of the principals were pretty big television stars at the time. It really was a big deal. I'm glad to see that people are still enjoying it.

Cheers.
