Mullholand Dr Vs Lost Highway
Which is the best for you?For me it's really hard,as both film are quite similar in tone, atmosphere and overall themes,LH is slightly better.
The shadows betray you because they belong to me.

M.D. is better. L.H. is my fave. How about the Purgatory, Hell, Heaven P.O.V. adding INLAND EMPIRE respectively as some do? Thought, Deed, and Repentance maybe?

Seeing as LH is my all time favorite film, it's no contest. That said, both are great.
sharePersonally, I prefer Lost Highway despite its flaws. Mulholland Drive is a better made film overall, but Lost Highway is just so dark and brooding. A perfect neo-noir to put on in the middle of the night.
shareAlthough LH and MD have a lot in common, when it comes to mood and overall themes they are like night and day to me. I view LH as psychological horror with indeed some gore thrown in the mix, while MD is a psychological tragedy.
We know Fred is guilty of murdering his wife, while in MD Diane is a victim of sexual abuse. That to me is decisive to how one experiences the movies.
Mulholland Dr. for me. Lost Highway is a terrific film but Mulholland Dr. has greater emotional resonance and stronger performances, I think, particularly from Watts and Herring.
shareExactly what I feel :)
shareI wasn't impressed by any of the actors in LH, except for Arquette but she doesn't have much to do. MD is perfectly cast.
shareWhen I first watched them, Lost Highway impressed me much more than Mulholland Drive. However, after rewatching both I felt like Mulholland Drive increased in quality while Lost Highway decreased. So Mulholland Drive for me.
