Walked out of theatre.....
This movie was so bad a friend and I walked out of the theatre. I don't think I've ever done that since. Thank goodness Bruce Willis made Fifth Element to redeem himself.

I'm sorry, but bragging about having left a theatre just sounds stupid to me. It says way more about you than the film. What were your expectations of the movie when you bought the ticket? Didn't you see a poster or a trailer or anything?
This is still one of very few movies where the hero is actually seen stocking up on ammo and actually reloads during the fight, even if he might fire more rounds than the gun holds sometimes. And the way bad guys turn out good and vice versa, that's unusual.
I can't explain it using film-buff buzzwords or dramaturgic terms or anything, but I love this movie.
In the same way that I love this movie, I also love Way of the Gun and Man on Fire. I want more films like these to be made!
A great cast in a dull movie.
To err is human; to forgive is divine.
VJMJ forever!
"A great cast in a dull movie."
Bingo.
By structure I mean that it looked like someone did a sloppy job in the editing room and made the action somewhat coherent, but un-involving. Last Man Standing was one of the most mundance action pics I've seen.
"That is the whitest white part of the eye I have ever seen; do you floss?"

I hope you and your friend have grown up in the last 5 years since you both obviously were children back then. If you haven't grown to appreciate it then stick with the Shrek movies you bunch of lassies!
shareFunny enough, the movie actually picks up later on...
shareHas this movie improved with time?I watched it when it was first released on video, then watched it again because i thought i missed the storyline.(i was being distracted at the time).
Maybe it is because we have been subjeted to a load of cr*p from the film industry but i am getting excited about watching this movie again.
The booming sound effects immediatly leap to mind. The acting is above par & maybe we have become accustomed to no storyline in the movie.
I remember it as being a rip off of "A Fist Full of Dollars" but in a better setting.
How can something that numerous directors and film makers have already ripped off be ripped off?
They are remakes of Red Harvest, the settings and locations change depending on the film maker.
Whether sent in Japan, the Old West, or near the Mexican border.
With Samurais, Gunslingers, or Gangsters.
The only problem is pacing and editing. Walter Hill tried to make a character driven movie, but the reality is it should have been a straight up action film.
I still thought it was quite good. But they should have put as much effort into the pacing as they did with the style.
It's still far better than Eraserhead, a movie that I stopped watching after 45 minutes, because it was too surreal and a waste of good black & white film.
