Poor old Diane Keaton

I feel so sorry for Ms Keaton. She had to sing beside two brilliant singers, obviously with no real training. Both Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn have fantastic voices; I would never be able to sing beside them without feeling incredibly inferior. Therefore, I have such respect for Diane Keaton, but I think it's lucky that she played such a meek character in this film, and was able to hide behind that character to justify her less-than-shining voice.

I thought exactly the same thing until I read this thread. Very educational. It still must be a little intimidating to have to sing lead over Bette Midler. What a voice.

Further to the question of Diane Keaton's vocal prowess
in general and in a partucular Woody Allen movie...

I know Bette Midler can sing, I never heard Diane Keaton sing, I never heard Goldie sing either.

yeah, I'm a little late to this discussion...

Goldie has a beautiful singing voice. She sang a number in Woody Allen's musical film, Everyone Says I Love You.

She also had a couple of her own music/comedy variety tv specials in the late 70's. Watch this clip of a duet with Liza Minnelli from the Emmy-nominated Goldie and Liza Together in 1980.

Though you would think as the seasoned actress she'd be able to avoid making a fool out of herself alongside the others, and that didn't work out either. The singing is the least of her problems.
