Funny but the scams of the wives would have never happened.

I think while the scene is funny when Elise hands her ex a dollar after telling him that's what she sold their stuff for , she would not have gotten away with it as that would be fraud and his lawyer would have taken her right to court as well as Annie who was in on the scam. In reality she and Annie would have had to pay him half of the actual value of the assets , and probably served some jail time too thus defeating both of their schemes to screw their ex husbands over.

Brenda's scheme was also pure fantasy. Her Uncle was a mobster and for him to reveal the illegal activities that Morty did would also incriminate his mob operations for providing the goods. Hence Brenda and anyone who knew like Annie would most likely be silenced because they would be threats.

It’s funny that we’re watching the news now and what people and companies get away with has no limit.

The uncle would not have cared. Not connected to him.

But I agree with you that they didn’t show how these hits were possible, with an accountant that does the Hollywood accounting (Art B., Coming To America movie didn’t make a profit, for example.
Of course it did.

Or the tax dodges.

The thing with Marty was no traceable purchase orders.
