the attempted rape scene

If Chris "loved" Sarah so much then why did he try to rape her. He could see that she didnt want to do anything with him, so why did he try to force her? Was that just his way of showing that he loved her?

Now Sid,don't you blame the movies, movies don't create psychos, movies make psychos more creative!

Maybe because the love wasn't real, it was a spell?

To quote Toni Morrison, "Love is never any better than the lover."

We've already seen that Chris is a dick, before any spells were ever cast on him. So love for him means turning the person into an object, a thing to be possessed no matter what. That is what Sarah unwittingly unleashed. When he pursues Sarah, he doesn't pay any attention to her signals, doesn't care when she tries to tell him to back off, and tries to rush her into a ridiculous commitment. This failure to see the other person as, well, a person, means that it's not all that big a leap to move to trying to force the other person into having sex with you.

Oh, and to the original posters ... if you yourself aren't clear that nobody, ever, rapes because they "love too much," then I hope you aren't dating, or have plans to start any time soon.

It wasn't so much love as it was obsession.

Because he was hypnotized under a love spell, that appeared to be driving him insane. At that point, I don't think right and wrong mattered to Chris anymore. All rationality was gone.
