Alissa: beautiful, sweet, accepts Tommy as he is, and she also tolerates his weird and annoying 'relatives'. You can't ask much more than that from a high school girlfriend, Tommy really hit the jackpot with that one.

Agoust was nuts and quirky and got along well with Tommy for that. Alissa was a generic american female, she made Tommy a boring and generic teenager... This was by the time they were all pretty generic characters anyway but i hated her all the way through. Go agoust!

August seemed more real.
Alissa was just generic, sacchariney sweet, and no challenge.
Alissa was a more likable character and I happened to like her story lines and chemistry with Tommy a lot more. Tommy and August felt pretty much thrown together and by her second episode we're to pretty much accept they're boyfriend and girlfriend. With Alissa we were shown a lot more of the exploration and development of their relationship.
shareAt first I liked August because she was "Not like other girls", but she seemed too manipulative and would have constant mood swings if things didn't go her way all the time. I felt sorry for Tommy having to go through this with her. Most notable is when she faked having mangled her nose, or when she told him she wasn't wanting to go to the dance then freaked out when he didn't ask her out to the dance. I found Alissa treated Tommy nicer and was funny. Although I think my favorite was the one episode Gothic girl. The one that wrote depressing poetry and liked Tommy for his intelligence.

Oh man, I couldn't stand August. I was 8 when the show began and even I could see that she was a nasty, manipulative b*tch. I have re-watched the show multiple times and she never ceases to piss me off. Here I sit, 21 years older, viewing it yet again...and August bothers me so much that I had to text one of my friends and remind her of what a piece of crap that character was. =P

August was a stuck up bitch but infinitely more interesting and fun to watch than Alissa.

IRL definitely Alissa.
But August fitted better with the rest of the cast. She looked a little alien herself.
I remember an episode when Sally and Harry were buying bigger and bigger appliances and all Alissa was doing was to protest faintly trying to put some sense in those knuckleheads. I felt sorry for her character.
Besides, Alissa is to good to be true. August is a more realistic and satirical portrait of some modern teenagers.
