I'm a guy and I love this movie. My friends make fun of me when I say that. Hey this movie is awesome and it brings tears to my eyes and I don't care who knows it hahaha.
shareI'm a guy who loves all types of movies from Carpenter and Romero to Kubrick, Spielberg and Tarantino, and I can honestly say that this is one of my fave movies of all.
It is so much more than just a children's film, it is a real piece of art from the great filmamker, Alfonso Cuaron.
The movie looks beautiful with stunning photography and poigniant performances from the cast. The movie also deals with themes of escaping/coping with reality through fantasy and imagination - something that always appeals to me in a film. I'm not ashamed to admit that it is one of the very few movies that can get the moisture weling up in the eyes.

My wife hates movies that she perceives as being overly sentimental or “syrupy”. I love such movies. This has always struck me as being rather backward. I tend to think that a woman ought to love these sort of movies; and that a man ought to tolerate them and watch them because the woman in his life wants him to watch it with her. That's what I perceive as “normal”, but that is not at all how it is with my wife and me. I love these kind of movies, and my wife doesn't.

Normal. What's normal? If 99% of Americans like pizza, and 1% do not not, that means that 1% do not "fit the norm" and are therefore "not normal." And who cares? It's no big deal. Accept who you are and don't worry about whether it's normal or not. As long as no one gets hurt, a person's tastes don't matter.

shareI'm a guy and I love it as well. I agree with argonfire - it is poignant and visually I love it. I'm hoping for a 15th anniversary DVD in 2010 with hopefully tons of extras. I can't believe that the DVD only had the re-release trailer.

I'm a guy who really adored this movie. It also helps if you are father like me, that puts in a different perspective everything.
Ten years ago I wouldn't have had the same reaction to this movie. Surely I'd have liked it but not as much as I love it nowadays.
