Did this freak anybody else out when they were little?

Ok, yeah, I was probably like three years old. But my only memory of this movie is watching the beginning and being completely freaked out xD.

I was four or five when I first watched it and yeah it freaked me out so much! James Horner's score in the opening has a guy moaning along with the score and Jumanji's drums...terrifying. I still loved it and watched it over and over again, but still the whole opening with little Alan and the score was pretty scary.

No, I thought it was incredible at the time, and it set my imagination on fire.. Jumanji, Jurassic Park and The Lion King are what my childhood is made of.

I never really considered it to be one of those. I read the story in second grade and we watched the movies. But years later i was giving a sort of friendly lecture on the horror-lite as i like to call it side of things mentioning TIm Burton, RL Stine, Clue, etc. But someone asked me about Jumanji and i was confused at first but now i kind of realize, that all the comedy really did disguise that i'm sure a lot of people now did see it as a very scary concept. Board game sending out killer things to get you.

Hell the film even kinda ups parts of the story to have more horror elements so there is room to draw from that. I now for sure talk about Jumanji when having discussions about such things, that aren't really horror but clearly utilize a lot of the same elements in telling it's story. But then again so did a lot of earlier literature too. Tell a Shakespeare company to add some fake blood packets and you got yourself some splatter.

Not really, actually. But I adored this as a kid; it's one of the many, many movies I probably watched dozens or even hundreds of times. It's scary when it's supposed to be, but it was never one of the movies I found *especially* freaky.

I was just talking to my friend about how it screwed me up when I first saw it in cinema's. That first scene was pretty disturbing.

I saw this film when I was about five and remember nothing in terms of content, but I do remember this feeling of pure and blind terror. Ooh, I do actually remember the bit with the rhinos storming the house. Terrifying to me as a kid.

I saw this when I was like 11 or 12 and I wouldn't say that I freaked out. More like I really loved this movie. The whole idea of a board game turning into a fantasy and sucking people in and so on felt like so awesome.

It's probably been 10+ years since I last saw it... perhaps it's time for a rewatch! :)
