He wanted to give Schneider's character 5 years in prison for hiding from shooters?

That seems WAY too harsh and unfair on behalf of Stallone's "Judge Dredd" character.

Also. Even with him being the law and whatnot, did he HIMSELF never have to "break rules" in that fashion at least occasionally to save his own life, even if his legal status gave him immunity from prosecution as such?

But seriously. 5 years in prison for hiding in a cart in order to save his life seems too harsh and unfair, agree?

I can't believe its considered a crime in this movie to hide somewhere if being out in the open means you're in danger of losing one's life.

In reality, people were hiding in many places during say terrorist attacks and when discovered they were not jailed or threatened with jail.

Or maybe this scene was meant to highlight that setting's law imperfections, per say.

i wonder if schneider ever brought it up. he must have had to give a little thought to his character and the motivations for his actions and the outcomes

He DID bring it up but Stallone's Dredd character was just shrugging it off and saying "Its the law".
