What's with the low rating?
5.6???? I'd give it at least an 8! I thought it was a really clever spoof!

Weirdo movies like The Crying Game and Blue Velvet rated higher on this site so that's where the majority tastes lie.
"Listen here, chisel chest - okay. We were here first." - Ed Zeddmore to Dean Winchester
This is one of my favorite movies (amazing seeing as I'm now 28 and never watched the Bradys on TV).
It is very quotable and good funny entertainment.
Thia film is funny as hell. Probably the reason for the low rating is that the film is dated today. I mean, look at all the crap that is on today. Example, Hannah Montana starring Miley Virus. But I gave it a 10 like I would for every film that I love.
"Weapons are toys too" -AceFrehleyForever69
This was one of the best spoof films ever.
Taking back IMDB message boards....one ignored Troll at a time.
It's hilarious. I love the acerbic commentary of the Dittmeiers, and Jan's psycho inner voices, and Mr. Brady's stupid lectures on morality that made no sense. And Gary Cole made a perfect Mr. Brady anyway, really nice in a slightly creepy sort of way, which suits Gary's acting style to a T. Also, Mrs. Brady was one of the best roles for Shelley Long, too; she carried off the overly-bright and chirpy Carol really well. And it's fun seeing all of the guest stars from classic tv shows, not just the Brady Bunch but The Beverly Hillbillies and many others. It's fairly mindless, but it is very entertaining.

Agreed, it is a spot-on spoof and deserves a much higher rating. Maybe some just didn't get it...their loss.
shareEven though I was never that familiar with The Brady Bunch, I found the movie to be really entertaining and am disappointed by the low rating. I think the low average might be partly attributed to disgruntled fans of the original show. I was looking at clips from the film on YouTube and ran across a few comments from people grousing about how the movie is an insult to the TV show or some such nonsense.
shareI agree. I'm appalled that it has such a low rating. It was very clever and fun to watch!! I laughed the entire way through :D
shareI loved the TV series having grown up with in and loved the film too which was both a homage and a send up. 9/10 from me.
I have just watched it again since seeing in on it's first release in 1995 and it holds up very well.
"The Brady Bunch Movie" was a hilarious satire/spoof of the series. And it nailed the show's retro tone. Sure, it's not high art. But it's low rating on IMDB is ridiculous. Should be a 7.5 or 8 out of 10. A lot of fun. The sequel? Not so much. It's just o.k.
9 here.
It's now a dated movie for obvious reasons (using "now" (1995) as a focal point to many of the jokes), and it resonates better for certain audiences, but it's still hilarious...
of course, I'm 41...
Years ago I gave it a 7...I watched it again last night and I had to update my vote to an 8! I just loved it so much more now. It's not perfect by any means, but it made me see just how secluded The Bradys were even in the 70's.
What I'm saying is, the Bradys in the 90's were stuck in the 70's, but the truth is the 70's version of the Bradys were also very secluded. Let's face it, they may have dressed in 70's fashion and listened to some of the 70's music but they were in no way realistic.
So that is why I think the movie is good. It showed that no matter the decade, the Bradys will always be The Bradys and secluded from everything else...and I think that's a great place for them to be.
I'm watching an old episode of The Brady Bunch, it's the one where Jan has a problem.
