Anybody see this movie in theaters in 1995?

Did anybody see this movie in theaters? I love this movie but I was only 5 when it came out, and I didn't see it for a few years later. Was this movie a big hit when it came out? Like were the theaters packed and were people talking about it? Was it heavily promoted? I see it debuted at number 1 at the box office opening weekend.

I guess I'm just curious because it seems to be kind of forgotten about these days. It seems like it's one of those movies that people know about if you ask them about it, but I rarely hear people talk about it ever. Was it popular when it came out?

There was a pretty big hype because no one had ever made a Brady Bunch parody like that before. Christopher Daniel Barnes who plays Greg in the movie had been on a short-lived sitcom with Julia Louis Dreyfus playing an obnoxious neighbor (I can't remember the name) and there was an episode with a dream sequence where he was Greg Brady. He was so good at it that they cast him in movie. I remember they showed a lot of re-runs of the show to promote it and they had cast interviews and behind the scenes stuff. It was one of those films that was a lot of hype and nostalgia at first and then I think quickly faded. I still love it though. The cast was great.

The movie did very well at the box office and it even spawned a sequel.

Yes I did...and the sequel.

I did, I was 25 at the time. I grew up on the Brady Bunch and at first I thought it was a dumb idea but then I hear about the plot so I was curious. I recall the theatre was quite full and there was a lot of laughter but most of all, it brought back good memories of your younger years. This show was so campy but it was brilliant how they placed that campiness into present day. Mike and Marcia Brady was great casting. I loved the cameo of Davey Jones, how know one knew him except the older teachers.

I did.. I was 28 years old.. it was a lot of fun, especially the way they presented Marcia, that was exactly how we young girls viewed Marcia as stuck on herself.. But I think they made Greg too goofy, he was a heartthrob back then.. I saw it in a small theater and I loved how they mixed the 70s and the 90s...

I did, I was 10 and at the time I thought it was fairly entertaining.

I rented the original on VHS when it was a new release and then went to see the sequel when it was in the theater! Good times.
