Did Gary Busey deserve an oscar nod for his scar storytelling scene?
Busey was friggin outstanding in that scene.
shareBusey was friggin outstanding in that scene.
shareI agree. I like this movie even though the acting by even the seasoned vets is somewhat disappointing, but I've always considered that scene to be the standout moment of the movie. Its incredible acting by Busey.
shareRight on, glad you feel the same way. Definately the standout scene in the film, and Busey is on fire during it.
shareGary Busey might not deserve an Oscar for that, but it was an absolutely beautiful scene. Few are better at playing the calm psychopath than Busey; only Steve Buscemi and Christopher Walken come to mind.
Side note: this scene reminded me of Denis Leary's classic monologue in the otherwise forgettable Suicide Kings. The two scenes are surprisingly similar.
Oh yes I know what you mean about Denis Leary's monologue. It also reminded me of the one Robert Shaw did in Jaws. They are all delivered in such a calm straight forward manner it just chills you to the bone.

Did he deserve an Oscar nod? No. And you'd have to be borderline retarded to think otherwise.

Busey does the same act in every movie as he is crazy.
LOL
I just had to show my appreciation for that post.

Do not pity the warrior, pity instead those who believe nothing is worth fighting for.
Prince Henry Stout still owns Busey.
sharei lol'd.
shareI second the motion... Great acting in that scene. It's even more amazing in slow-mo!!! The expressions on his face are quite the sight. Well done.

"you're ice cream!"
Best scene in the movie. The rest of the movie sorely misses Busey, I would've loved to see more of Hauer & Busey acting together. Busey has always been a stong character actor.

Your Welcome...
Thank You! You obviously see the brilliance that is Busey in this scene.
shareAmazing Busey performance, I love the twisted tragic tale of Prince Henry Stout, the dinner scene contains some of my favorite lines from the movie. My favorite part might be when McGinley throws down his silverware in disgust and glares at Ice-T over something he said. This is such a hilarious movie, people need not take it so serioulsy. There is no question that this is a B-Movie but, B-Movies have many special qualites that may not be visible on the surface. Once you realize whats going on and what to look for your in for a great ride. This movie has a pretty decent cast and you have look for the subtle humor in their performances that makes this film so unique.
shareAgreed.

If there's one thing you should learn in this life it's that Gary Busey ALWAYS deserves an oscar. Even for the films he's not in.
shareI totally disagree. It was some of the worst acting I've ever seen. Just so contrived, I cringed all the way through it. I don't hate the movie - there were some laughable parts but it's one of those movies you sort of forgive because you grew up on it. But that scene was the absolute low point. Busey was cool in point break, but I can't think of anything else I liked him in.
shareHe was cool in Lethal Weapon 2, Mr Joshua, bad-ass.
