here is my idea of a my girl 3 if they would make one. vada would be in her 40s now and would be married. she would have a son named after thomas j. her brother would be 31.

Interesting. I see what you're saying, but you see in my mind, if they were to make a My Girl 3, they would keep in time with the "imaginary '70s timeline."
Here's what I mean:
The original My Girl was released in 1991 but set in 1972.
The second My Girl was released in 1994 but set in 1974.
So in my mind, since it's been 14 years now since the last movie, My Girl 3 should be set somewhere around 1988. Corporate Yuppie America and Vada's a new career woman. That sounds funner to me. Coming of age as an adult fresh out of college. Vada would be 27, her little brother would be entering HIS teens. And maybe she mentors him, as he goes through HIS growing-up issues.
I personally feel they should keep in time with their imaginary timeline, because they COULD play it in current time, but in my opinion, that just ages Vada too fast. One minute (for two movies) she's a teenager, and now BAM, she's middle-aged? Bummer.
Plus.... they would not be able to use Anna Chlumsky. On the other hand, if they kept with the fake timeline, Dan Ackroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis could still pull off their roles, along with Anna.

That is a great idea. In real life Anna is a year or two older than me so playing 27 would just right for her. Also, I agree keep it with the 70's storyline. I seen some movies that start off in like a 80's storyline and suddenly the sequel would be somewhere in this time frame.

I just read that a third film might be made called Still My Girl.
It said Dan was interested and than the studio was interested and if it was going to be made they strongly want Anna to come back even though she's now in her late thirties. I'd love to see a third film because then people would remember the first two and then maybe get them on DVD and then the new comers would see the first two films and they would be popular all over again!
