Who would you cast as the next Mask wearer?

Say that you were in charge of a Mask sequel (Not SOTM. Just...no.) and you had to choose would play the next Mask wearer. Who would you choose? For me it would be:

Rik Mayall - He's one of the funniest, yet underrated comedians I've ever seen in my life. If you've ever seen him in Drop Dead Fred, The Young Ones, or Bottom, you'd probably agree with me.

That's all I can think of for now, but I'll probably come up with more later on.

Aubrey Plaza.

Maybe Donald Glover, so long as he's based on the geek of group from "The Mask Strikes Back"

Also to anyone saying "Jim Carrey was the one and only true Mask", I should point out that the Mask comics were about passing it along wearer to wearer with their own experiences of using it.

I grant you that the Jamie Kennedy movie was garbage, but most of you say it's garbage for the wrong reasons. It felt like I was watching a Dr. Seuss movie adaptation half the time -- while not bad, doesn't fit in the with same mood and feel of the first film where there was a clear distinction between "reality" and "cartoon physics." The problem with the cinematography of Son of The Mask was that so many sets looked horrendously cartoonish and if the people weren't cardboard cutout characterizations, they were definitely over the top representations of actual people.

It should be very much possible to follow the feel of the first movie as long as they give it a bit of integrity. A reason to relate to or root for the wearer and maybe realizing how The Mask seemed like a necessary evil only to find it causes more trouble than it solves. That formula wasn't only in the Jim Carrey, but recurring in the comics as well. The reason why Son of the Mask was awful was because the "star" of the movie took a backseat to his dog and son fighting Tom and Jerry style.

Confirmation bias doesn't mean the movie needs Jim Carrey to be good.

Bill Hader. He's pretty animated and can play regular joe parts when he's not wearing the mask.

Sasheer Zamata. She can go wild with the concept.

"While guys hold on to their toys forever, girls soon throw out their playthings."

On the subject of female wearers, SNL's Kate McKinnon would get my vote, she's been knocking it out of the park since she joined the cast.

No way, not after starring in the abomination that was deemed Ghostbusters (2016). I wouldn't want her anywhere near a possible sequel/remake.

Honestly, I can't envision it without Carrey and Diaz. They had the perfect chemistry, and it would be nice to see what happened to them after the events that took place in the original.

Besides, there was suppose to be a sequel, but it never panned out. (And, no, I'm not talking about Son of the Mask (2005). Keep that monstrosity as far away as possible!)

It was in an issue of Nintendo Power. Here's a picture of the article: https://www.destructoid.com/ul/287112-meet-the-winner-of-nintendo-power-s-the-mask-ii-contest/TheMaskIIWinner-Contest-620x.jpg

I would keep both Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz and use 'The Mask Returns' comics as the inspiration with some changes. With Carrey recently doing a sequel for 'Dumb and Dumber' with Jeff Daniels I see no reason why he couldn't do this.

I see another Son of the Mask situation with some of the choices mentioned here. Possibly something worse. :O

For me, it's pretty hard to imagine anyone but Carrey as The Mask (if the next movie was also a comedy, of course).

You want something corny? You got it!

If I had to choose? Sylvester McCoy (the 7th Doctor).

Actor: Josh Peck
Actress: Emma Stone

Adam Sandler's latest movies have underpreformed, but this kind of role seems to be tailor made for him. The more bankable Will Ferrell would be a good choice too.

But can they sing and dance? Carrey did both. Read the trivia pg. Carrey's flexibility and improv skills made it easier. BTW he only made 450K for the movie, it was made before Ace Ventura. Diaz first movie. She didn't sing and was paid 500K. Bargin casting.

I'd be curious to see Matt Bomer play him. He can dance, sing and he's not a bad actor, would be an interesting challenge for him. Hypothetically speaking.

Michael wants to know what's going on.
