Who would you cast as the next Mask wearer?

Say that you were in charge of a Mask sequel (Not SOTM. Just...no.) and you had to choose would play the next Mask wearer. Who would you choose? For me it would be:

Rik Mayall - He's one of the funniest, yet underrated comedians I've ever seen in my life. If you've ever seen him in Drop Dead Fred, The Young Ones, or Bottom, you'd probably agree with me.

That's all I can think of for now, but I'll probably come up with more later on.

Despite I have one or two new actors in mind for wearing the mask, but after seeing SOTM, I only want Jim Carrey to come back as Stanley Ipkiss and be the main character again.

But I agree with Rik Mayall being an underrated performer. He could have been the Russell Brand of the '90s.

Honestly, I don't blame you. But I'm just saying this metophoricaly as if SOTM never happened.

And I agree about Rik, lol.

I'd probably use Steve Carell off the top of my mind.

It depends on the tone. If I want to go more in line with the tone of the original comics, I'd probably get Christian Bale. (much darker)

I might as well chime in. I refuse to watch any new Mask movie that doesn't have Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz, but realistically if there's a proper Mask sequel now they would have to add new contemporary characters to star with Jim and Cameron. I'm starting to think it maybe too late to have a Mask sequel since Jim is now 50 years old, but he's not too old yet.

I pick John C. Riley as a mask wearer because he looks like Chet Bozzack (Stanley's former school bully turned evil mask wearer) from the animated series.

Another person I cast as a Mask wearer is...don't laugh....Anne Hathaway. I can picture her as a nerdy woman and be essentially the female version of Stanley Ipkiss.. She's a quiet girl who gets picked on by her evil boss, has a dumb and disloyal boyfriend and secretly wants a better one and gets screwed by everyday life. The world is seemingly against her until she wears a weird Mask and unleashes her wild, goofy side. Her story is sorta like a funny metaphor on female liberation. I don't want her to replace Jim Carrey's Stanley but I want her to be part of Stanley's continuing story.

Off topic but I'm really looking forward to Dumb and Dumber 2 with Jim and Jeff Daniels coming back.

I agree about Anne Hathaway, I could totally see her pulling off a Live-Action Eve. I always had an idea for...Selena Gomez as a potential Mask wearer. Now it may sound like a HORRIBLE idea, but I think she could pull it off.

As for a a filmer more true to the Comics, I had an idea for Costas Mandylor (Hoffman from Saw.) as Kellaway.

I like the idea of Chris Kattan (from SNL fame) to be the next Mask wearer. He's a very underrated actor/comedian.

I'd probably use Steve Carell off the top of my mind.
That would make some interesting trivia since he starred with Jim Carrey before.

Jackie Chan

A female "The Mask", hmm, Kate Hudson.
A new male: Seth Rogen.

Crispin Glover would be awesome to wear the mask.

Interesting choice.

If someone had the sense to go back to the original storyline of The Mask, Crispin Glover would be an excellent choice. Since they used so little of the real story in the movie, it's still there to be used. Change Stanley's name to something else and run with it.

I can picture Jason Lee as the Mask but not the current, husky Jason you see on "My Name Is Earl". Back when he was in "Mallrats" and "Dogma". The thin, nerdy, irate Jason Lee.

I agree with you on Crispin Glover.

I also think Neil Patrick Harris and Sebastian Stan would be good choices.

As for a female Mask wearer, Maryu Lynn Rajskub, Evanna Lynch, Chloe Grace Moretz all fit the bill to me. I think they all possess a personality and eccentricity that would work well for the role. I also have to include Emma Stone. Heck she even has Jim's admiration.

He would work. And would be ideal if he wants to make big-budget movies.

Hard to answer because no-one I repeat NO-ONE could play the mask better than jim carey so its irrelevant.
