Disney, how creative you are, Marvel, Star Wars, live action remake series That's the best you can do??? This is just another reason why people keep saying the old days are better, at least filmmakers are create something new and fresh, now the studio just want to make money and keep making the same crap over and over and creative movies just getting smaller and smaller budget.
These arguments have always been really silly. Remakes and sequels have been a part of Hollywood for a long time. It's just that this modern digital age allows many to notice it more and give people a venue to whine about it. It shouldn't have to be said, but a remake or sequel's existence will not tarnish or erase the original film in any way. If you're really against the idea of such films, just simply talk with your dollar and don't watch it. Oh but that's right, all of these people have to watch it so they can complain about it! Logic!

Not a problem?? In case you didnt know, besides animated one, last year almost no original films get over 100 mil budget, 90% of the big budget films are sequels and remake. Over 50% of the top 50 grossing films are sequels and remake. 20 years ago? Less than 20%. Why dont you just take a look at all the big budget film release in the past few years, they all fking similar and share the same plot. Average viewer dont care because they use to it, no one care about the story. Its about brainwashing, keep showing you the same thing and you gonna get entertain, just like the pop songs play over 20 times in the radio, of course you will get used to it and think its good. Same thing happen in movies, the executives know people gonna watch it, they release 10 remake and sequels and some of them are going to make money (nostalgia), then they just focus on making sequels on those that make money and do it over and over again. Just imagine 20 or 30 years later, the filmmakers grow up watching the same *beep* over and over with different version, are you going to expect anything creative gonna come out?
Most of your post talks about box office which I could care less about. If people are really so concerned then they should rebel and embrace the foreign and independent scenes. Of course people won't do this because actually acting on your principles is hard.

People paying to see sequels and remakes doesn't demonstrate a problem with the film companies themselves. People are voting with their wallets and more films of those types are being produced as a result.
You also aren't considering that there are actually a lot more original films being released in recent years than in the past. Based on your profile you even seem to be mostly watching these large blockbusters you are complaining about so you are clearly part of the alleged problem.
It shouldn't have to be said, but a remake or sequel's existence will not tarnish or erase the original film in any way.
Well, it doesn't harm the original film, but the industry is a risky business—really, an insane business—and it likes safe bets. There is no safer bet than trying to recapture lightning in a bottle and to reproduce what has been made before, and successfully. It's a miracle good movies ever get made, and often times those movies are paid for by remakes and reboots.

i'm just getting sick of this disney remakes... there is absolutely no reason for it to exist except money. maleficent sucked, haven't seen cinderella, the jungle book remake is decent at best.
How to say that they haven't even begun the filming or even a known release date for the live action remake which will be interesting to see how they will pull it off.
The real reason people say "the old days are better" is because time makes people only remember the great films of the past, forgetting the forgettable and bad ones. Nostalgia also plays a large role in people's perception of the past. The ratio of good to terrible films back then were just as bad as ones now, but overall films are technically better now because of better filmmaking techniques and technology creates a higher floor.
