What is your favorite adaptation of Frankenstein?
I still have a soft spot for the 1931 Boris Karloff film, but I also enjoy the Hammer productions. This film just gets it all wrong.

Hammer versions, this one and Van Helsing. Hey, VH is great silly fun!
shareThis one if we're going for faithfulness to the original, Young Frankenstein if we're just going for best movie with the name.
As a fan of the novel, I can't stand the Karloff version.

With trenches full of poets,
The ragged army, fixing bayonets to fight the other line
I've seen almost all of the Frankenstein films, and to me this was the best. De Niro was amazing!
shareI haven't seen every single version, but my favorite Frankenstein flicks are...
"Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed" (1969)
"Frankenstein Created Woman" (1967)
"Lady Frankenstein" (1971)
"Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" (1994)
"Frankenstein" (2004), a quality Hallmark film with Luke Goss playing the creature
They're all serious renditions (not campy) and worth checking out.
Here are the Frankenstein related titles I've enjoyed over the years, both adaptations and off-shoots
The Bride of Frankenstein(1935)
Son of Frankenstein(1939)
The Ghost of Frankenstein(1942)
House of Frankenstein(1944)
Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein(1948)
The Curse of Frankenstein(1957)
The Revenge of Frankenstein(1958)
Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed(1969)
Young Frankenstein(1974)
The Bride(1985)
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein(1994)
Also liked the 2017 biographical film "Mary Shelley" with Elle Fanning.
1931. I know, I know, the Universal versions don't follow Shelley's book. But I don't care, I like them better (yes, I've read the book).
