What happened to Jenny's sisters?

.

AIDS

reply

that's Jenny. The story is supposed to be on Forrest and Jenny so the sisters are immaterial.

reply

I always assumed it was AIDS, but according to the book, it was Hepatitis C.

EDIT: director said it was AIDS although it wasn't specifically named. Either way, doesn't matter - deadly disease caused by lifestyle choices.

I don't remember the movie mentioning her having sisters. Seems kind of pointless if they didn't put them in the storyline.

Maybe in the book? I don't recall Jenny being anything but an only child.

It's a throwaway line, when Forrest is first talking about Jenny's dad, something like "He was a real friendly man, always touching Jenny and her sisters"

reply

Ah, missed that.

reply

It's been years since I saw that movie, I forgot about that line.

reply

It's funny, I've seen this movie maybe 50 times over the years, and just watching now (since it was on), and that throwaway line caught my attention. I never remembered that at all and was like what, why were they never shown or mentioned again. So my thought is Jenny was the oldest. I would think if they were older, they would do whatever to protect the youngest from the same fate. No idea obviously, but that would be my guess.

reply

Nope. Jenny didn't have sisters in the book. Then again the book is very different from the movie. Forrest cusses a lot and says all kinds of politically incorrect things in the book.

reply

It's always that way - the book and movie being very different.

I came looking for this question. They mention them briefly, but you never see them. I assumed they were older, but there's nothing that proves one way or the other. I can't imagine they were THAT much older if they were, though, and assume they had to split them up when they removed her (them?) from her father's house, due to the size of Grandma's house or something. But still, you'd think later on when she was all messed up that maybe she could have considered that they were people she could turn to, because they, especially, could understand her issues.

Were they at the wedding? The funeral? People have that theory that Forrest isn't really the father, but if he really wasn't, she easily could've given little Forrest to one of her sisters, right? This in and of itself, should prove that he is the father, because, even though it seemed she had written him off, she obviously wanted little Forrest with his father over other family.

Anyway, probably overthinking it, but hey, why not?

reply

I always thought that Jenny was the youngest.

Maybe, as with real cases, the older ones dashed off out and got married, so they would get away from the revolting pedo?

reply

People have that theory that Forrest isn't really the father...

"People" also have theories that the Earth if flat and that Apollo never landed men on the moon...

It was made crystal clear that Forrest was little Forrest's father. Any ambiguity is the mind of the perpetually confused.
