help, please. other period films with great 60's/70's soundtracks

I'm just getting into rock & folk. Can anyone suggest other films that have soundtracks with not-to-be-missed iconic classic rock and/or folk music of the 60's & 70's? Thanks!

Boogie Nights has a great soundtrack. Check out Dazed and Confused, another one with great throwback tunes.

thanks mph. I'm not familiar with any of those songs. looking forward to checking them out tonight. I also got some good stuff from Austin Powers & Watchmen. Gonna keep exploring these soundtracks. Can't believe I overlooked these genres for so very long.

The first time I watched the movie I almost failed to realize it was a period piece because one of the scenes looked like it could have been filmed in any era and still look like LA. So really didn't even notice the soundtrack that time. Noticed the songs I knew but hear them so often that I don't really associate a specific time with them.

Another you might wanna check out is Jackie Brown. Being Taratino's Pulp Fiction follow-up project probably made a lot of people tune out the soundtrack a little because expectations were too high. I think doing that though probably makes viewers miss out on stuff. It's no wonder sequels never do well.

As for the songs in Wonderland, I've noticed a lot of times in movies that they pick stuff far different from what you find on radio stations. I'm wondering if that's because it's cheaper, or if maybe the director is using their music knowledge to expand people's catalogue a little. I also think using tracks that haven't been worn to death probably makes a scene a little more interesting because the entire experience is new to the viewer.

Apocalypse Now (1979)
Has iconic tunes.

Get Carter (1971)
Greatest tune at the beginning credits.

Zodiac uses some interesting tracks. Not a period film but I like several non-theme songs in Midnight Cowboy.

You might consider checking out Emilio Estevez's movie The War at Home. Dunno why it took me so long to remember.

"Coming Home" had the most awesome music. An official soundtrack was never released but you can find the list of songs heard in the movie online.

Dazed and Confused soundtrack is amazing and a great period piece about teenagers in the mid 70's. I'm not going to claim its the best movie of all time but its one movie I can watch over and over again (like the Big Lewbowski) and a large part of it is the soundtrack of the movie.
