Forrest vs. Pulp vs. Shawshank
Which movie do you think is the best of '94? The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, or Forrest Gump? In my opinion, it's Forrest Gump.

shareFor me personally I like Shawshank Redemption the best.
All three are quite entertaining. I think S.R. is one of the best films of all times.
One of the cases where I like the movie more than the book (or novella in this case). The Novella was nice but the film was great in my opinion.
Shawshank. While not original or groundbreaking, it's framing of a mix of other elements makes it much more enjoyable in comparison to the stories it draws from.
Pulp Fiction is a bore. Unless you really like that Tarantino vibe or have a thing for romanticizing junkie culture, it has little to offer. For my part, Tarantino has a couple of interesting film but none of them have a lot of rewatch value and Pulp Fiction is at the bottom of the list.
Forrest Gump is mostly a one trick pony; A really ignorant guy being placed in the middle of extraordinary circumstances and coming out looking good by sheer dumb luck. Aside from that there's a couple of hum-drum subplots, the most memorable of which is Lt. Dan. While it's a good subplot it's not really better or more compelling than any in Shawshank which also leans heavily on these devices to propel the story.
If you think the movie Forrest Gump has extraordinary circumstances you should read the book. I like the movie and book. But some of the stuff that happens in the book is so unbelievable it makes the movie look like a historical documentary by comparison
shareYou want us to say TSR. Gump here.
