Funniest scene in cinema history....

Without a doubt is the Harry Dunn Turbo-Lax bathroom scene in this movie. That is not even debatable! More than 20 years later and I still bust out laughing every time I watch it.

I think it's when the hitman bites into the hamburger. He's laughing to himself about how unlucky Harry and Lloyd are just when that happens. I used to laugh so hard I couldn't catch my breath.

Only other movie scene that made me laugh that hard was the payphone scene in "High Anxiety".

No, I think the funniest scene in that movie is the look on the snow owl's face just before it gets clocked by the cork.

That Turbo-Lax thing wouldn't have worked. As much as he put in there even an idiot's body would have rejected something that tasted that bad.

Lots of funny:
Harry: I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this.
Lloyd Christmas: I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of *beep* man.

Harry Dunne: Ooh, look at the buns on that one.
Lloyd Christmas: Yeah, he must work out.
It goes right past Harry. LOL

Harry catches on fire.
Harry nails Mary in face with snowball.
Cop drinks piss filled bottle.
Lloyd and his two sets of gloves.

When friends and I discuss this fine piece of film-making, which we invariably do when we're high, I always bring up my personal favorite joke in he film which only becomes funnier with some thought: Harry and Lloyd walking to the apartment together:

Lloyd: How was yer day?
Harry: I got fired. How was yers?
Lloyd: It was ok; fell off the jetway again!

I love the implication that the whole movie had taken place one, or more, times before.

Also, Harry whacking Lloyd on the back of the legs with the cane as they enter the fundraiser makes me laugh so hard I gotta squirt ketchup and mustard into my face!

This goes by so fast. (Kind of like good ol' "Animal House" where things are thrown in from everywhere and still make sense) It really makes it a better movie. Just like AH you have to watch it again and again to see the little things they slip in.

Funniest for me is when harry chucks that snowball right at Mary's head when all Mary did was splash a little snow at Harry's jacket and then harry just went ballistic LMAO.

reply

Yep, I can relate to that scene. And when she tells him the toilet doesn't flush and the camera pushes-in on his face and his expression and the music... hilarious.

I also love this scene:
Harry - I can't believe there's not a single job in this town!
Lloyd: Yeah, unless you wanna work forty hours a week!

Classic.

Carrey 'day-dreaming' (*ahem*, "night-dreaming") of beating everyone up in a restaurant with his 'martial art skills' -finalized by ripping the heart out of the chef. Absolutely awesome.

Yes! I laughed till I cried the first time I saw this scene! And I wonder how many viewers got that it was an homage to John Saxon's role in Enter the Dragon - right down to the turtle neck sweater. He even gets punched in the face then wipes his lip and says "uhhhhh" like that.

after the parrot getting a hit job and after being robbed by a lady in a wheelchair he breaks down in the apartment and rants about their home as if he's in some kind of violent ghetto neighbourhood, again, because of the parrot suffering a hit job from the movie's bad guy "mental" (mike starr) and the lady in a wheelchair not taking care of his stuff after he has insulted her without realising it. another amazing bit is the dream sequences he has, that not only includes meeting the girl, but then goes on to having the family gathering in the house where he's turning people over in laughter and then continues fantasising from there on to some kind of martial arts fight at a restaurant before waking up almost crashing on the road.
