On the Dumb and Dumber boards there is a thread about the funniest small parts in the movie...seen as Jim Carrey is the best Actor at pulling of small parts in a big way i thought i'd do that topic for Ace aswell....My favorite small part is at the Billionaires party when he walks past the orchestra and pulls the violinist arm causing him to stuff up..u barely see it but i was in hysterics...wot are your guys favorite funny small parts?
You know how i told you i'd kill you first? I lied
The funniest part is when he's at the silo to save Snowflake. When the two criminals are teasing the dolphin, Ace pops up before the camera and says in a funny voice: "Love party. Pitty I wasn't invited." After which he makes funny faces. Hilarious!
Funniest part and line in the movie for me is when Ace is in the tank doing his "Star Trek" impressions. I'm laughing everytime when he does Dr. McCoy:
"For God sakes, Jim - I'm a doctor, not a poolman!"
Ace Ventura: My esteemed colleague, Mr. Marino, has just brought some new evidence to my attention. Now, history has certainly shown that even the most intuitive criminal investigator can be wrong from time to time. But if I am mistaken... if the Lieutenant is indeed a woman, as she claims to be... then, my friend, she is suffering from the worst case of hemorrhoids I have *ever* seen! [turns Lois around to reveal a bulge in her nether regions]
Ace Ventura: *That's* why Roger Podacter is dead! He found Captain Winkie! [all the men in the vicinity start throwing up because Einhorn has kissed them]
I am looking for Ray Finkle...and a clean pair of shorts.
When I was younger I never really got this joke as I was taking it in context with the randomness in the movie. But there was a point, in which this joke stopped going over my head and said, "OMG, he just shat his pants." It really is a hilarious joke in regards to point and timing.
"I'm looking for Ray Finkle . . . and a clean pair of shorts"
I swear that I didn't get why that line was so funny the first two times I saw it either. I knew it was funny, but I didn't pick up on it! And, I always get the joke, no matter what it is. That's what made it even more funny for me when I did finally get it because it was so simple! It STILL makes me laugh when I think about it. There are just TOO many funny lines from that movie. But, that one has a special place in my heart. hahahaha
By far one of the funniest and most randomly clever parts in this movie is after he is escorted out of Ronald Camp's home:
Camp: I'm terribly sorry Mr. Ace, I'll have the plumbing checked immediately!
Ace: Be sure that you do! If I'd been drinking out of the toilet, I MIGHT OF BEEN KILLED!
That is sheer genious and classic and so random. Why would he be drinking out of the toilet?! It's so bizarrely funny, something only Ace could think of.
I love when he's trying to reveal that Einhorn is actually a man at the end and says "Tell me...would a REAL woman be missing...THESE??" and he rips off her blouse to reveal her ample cleavage and he laughs half-rauckously, half in disbelief about two inches away from her breats and says "THAT kind of surgery can be done over the weekend!"....i just love how close his head gets to her chest and how exaggerated the laugh is!
I love the part when he gets in the mini raft and puts the fan in the water only to travel a few inches down the water path till he reaches the ladder. Comedy gold!
My favorite part was when he was being introduced at Mr. Camp's party, and (1) he told him "congratulations on all your success, you smell TERRIFIC!", and (2) he goes into his tirade about the 'modern proliferation of food poisoning claims against wealthy private homeowners. In fact, if one were so inclined, one could make quite a lucrative profit at it with little else..(mock laughter)....so how is everybody feeling tonight?"
The violin bit is my favorite subtle part, the sound as the player messes up is hilarious.
Also, the little fan+boat combo was hilarious too.
And the part where one of the henchmen laughs so hard at the "throwing passes to a dolphin" joke, that he actually shakes the other guy's hand over it.
The "Stupid fish!" line.
The part where he snaps and punches out the mascot with two well placed shots to the head.
"He's just a dentist Kramer. Yeah? And you're an anti-dentite!" -Seinfeld
when melissa tells ace not to embarras her at the party and he starts freaking out in front of the door, then the doorman opens it and ace says "hello captain stoobing, how are gopher and doc? permission to come aboard sir!"
