This will be a forgotten classic.

I don't recall very much promotion for this particular movie but I remember going to see it at the theatre. I was the only one in the auditorium, but I saw the 11pm showing. It was pretty good animation although targets the pre-school/elementary age kids.

This movie is totally under-rated. It's cool, great coloring and it's pretty dark in some parts. I really liked it as a kid, and I plan on rewatching it.

I know. I can't believe it's got a 4.7! This is better than any of the newer animated pixar movies around these days (I like some of those too, they just make too many)

Just sitting with my 5 yr old daughter watching this film, she is loving it, wish I was. :-) I suppose that these days we are being very spoilt by films that run at two levels, Shrek, Toy Story etc

Aw, how precious!

i haven't seen this since my 9th birthday party. it was only me and my friends because by my birthday it had been out for a while. a bunch of 9 and 8 year old girls with a theater to themselves, popcorn fights, alf's infamous echoing burp... and we were quoting it the whole way home and even during cake and stuff. It just came on Cartoon network, and i'm STILL impressed by it. Me, the animation major. It's still got it.

OMG! I watched it on Cartoon Network too! It made me all nostalgic and I remembered watching it as a kid at my grandma's house. I never saw it in theaters, but I love that movie to this day. Something always bothered me though. None of my friends have even heard of this movie. Anybody out there got an explanation? I was only 3 when this movie came out so I really don't remember how big this movie was, but it seems strange that I would be the only person I know to have seen this.

I dunno, really. I guess it's underappreciated, like The Great Mouse Detective.

Unfortunately, you are right. It really deserves to be remembered, but I fear my family will be the only ones still buying it... I'll have to keep a DVD player in the house just for that reason! LOL

I used to watch this movie every time I went over to my grandmothers house.
It was a classic in my family. Deffinently one of the best kids movies made.

I used to watch this when I was younger. Loved the dark circus bits. Probably why I'm addicted to horror; my parents didn't know all the dark material in it...

I loved this movie when i was a kid. I sat down with an old friend who also loved it just today and we watched it again. lol.

Kudos to whoever mentioned the great mouse detective. Another film that I adored as a kid.

I used to watch this all the time at my babysitter's when I was little (along with The Great Mouse Detective ). I was just thinking about it the other day, but couldn't remember its name! I'm glad someone on another board was able to help me out!
I wish I could find this movie somewhere to watch it again.

I loved this movie as a kid, and in fact I seem to recall having a We're Back! T-shirt. Someone should buy the DVD and put it up on Youtube so it won't be lost forever.

reply

I remember when I saw it, the projector broke or something and we waited a long time to see it. I remember I loved the animation.

Re-watching it again, its not bad at all. Story is short and dialogue is weak, but everything else is too high quality to hate. The soundtrack, visuals, everything.

Stuff like this reminds me of "Movie Poop Shoot.com" from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

reply

Unfortunately, you are probably right. This movie was never one of my most watched favorites but I did like it and it does deserve to be remembered. Sometimes I think this new generation of kids are really missing out on some great films. At the same time I'm sure that's just what each generation thinks about the next. Jeez, I'm sounding so old talking like this. Oh well, maybe I'll rent it for my nephews the next time they come over.
