Maybe this has been asked?
Is this the most overlooked movie of the 90s?
shareNo. The film is popular as fuck & highly rated. Everyone knows the film & it was a popular film to rent from the video shop.
shareYeah I love this film as well. But like I asked is this film overlooked? It's always Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas.....
shareYep, because Tarantino wrote the script... it got just as much hype as Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction when it came out in the nineties. But young kids might think that it's a lost or overlooked film.
shareIt only got Tarantino hype after Pulp Fiction came out .
shareYes but because it all happened during the peak of the home video era... films on VHS became almost as big as the theatrical run. Same with Shawshank around the mid nineties... a film could bomb in the theater but have a second life on VHS and then a few years later on DVD. Clerks was like this too... and From Dusk Til Dawn.
shareDon't forget Mallrats. Maybe I asked the question wrong. What would you call the most overlooked movie of the 90's?
shareI'll think about this... because we are imdb refugees... we all grew up reading imdb which came of age during the 90s... and many of the films at the top of the 250 list... Pulp Fiction, Se7en, Usual Suspects, Shawshank, The Professional, Rushmore, Trainspotting... were from this era. Although I love these films... the nineties might be overrepresented because of the popularity of this site... so I'm not sure many films were overlooked from this period.
Maybe Heavenly Creatures is one... Peter Jackson directed and Kate Winslet's debut... no one really talks about it any more even with those two involved. Melanie Lynskey from Two and Half Men was in it too. Good film if you haven't seen it.
I guess I'm showing my age.lol . I just don't see the love for this movie.
sharePlease explain what research design you would use in order to determine "most overlooked." How would you even begin to quantify "most." And, yes, I know that you don't know what I mean. I am so sick of ignorance.
shareYou're right " Most' overlooked was not the way too ask this question. There are other movies that respectively carry that badge with honor.
shareMallrats sucks. Most everyone connected to it including Kevin Smith admits it's a pile of shit.
shareIn my mind, yes this movie is somewhat overlooked. Some fans are going to know it like the back of their hand especially because of the Tarantino connection, but I rarely ever hear anyone mention it in the general sense. I'd love to see it again.
shareIt did poorly at the box office at the time, but it has a following today.
