Daniel Stern is great!
I wouldve considered this movie pretty bad if it werent for Daniel Stern. Every scene he is in I find hilarious. From getting locked in the cage to stuck between doors and the comments are classic.

shareDaniel Stern MAKES this movie. "Hot Ice" might be the greatest quote EVER for a movie. I urinate on myself every time in that scene, I just cant help it!! Daniel Stern really got snubbed at the oscars for best supporting actor...genuis, pure genuis!!
shareThis movie is the reason that I decided to have kids. I thought maybe if one of my kids can turn out half as cool as Daniel Stern I will have come out of it a winner.
Everything about Stern makes me happy on the inside. From his portrayal of Marv in Home Alone to his batting coach in Rookie of the Year, to his great performaces in Celtic Pride and Bushwacked.
BRAVO Stern BRAVO
You've had a great career, right up there w/ Bob Saget and Dave Coulier and I think its safe to say that he will win a few best actor awards before its all said and done.
p.s. #2 actor behind carey grant
yeah, he was excellent in this film.

"Surely you can't be serious?"
"I am serious. And don't call me Shirley."
Umm, what are you kids smoking?
Daniel Stern acts like a huge fu<king IDIOT in this movie. I just saw it for the 1st (and last) time on Cinemax and I couldn't take this enormous overactor the minute he went into his ridiculous performance. He's not funny at all, just incredibly FU<KING annoying! He was stupid as hell in the Home Alones, he is worse in this. And I see that the retard directed it too. Horrible movie all around. I want to strangle the stupidity out of Stern's asinine character!!!!

I love stern in the batting cage, "bring me the good stuff" and he keeps hitting it straight up and the ball comes down and pops him on the head.
"let the big dog eat" LOL
He was funny and he was also the director of the film so he knew how to direct himself in those scenes.

I really liked Stern's direction here. Alot of actors who direct (See Sidney Poitier for this one) are afraid of really experimenting with the camera. Alot of the shots in this film are really well done, and he seems to know the psyche of each of the actors... Hell, Gary Busey doesn't seem insane for the first time since the Buddy Holly Story in this one.
The highlight for me though was one of my favorite actors, the late John Candy in one of his last roles as broadcaster Cliff Murdock. Candy's cameo/minor starring role was really well done, and it's likely since he's uncredited, that the role was much smaller in the screenplay, but he expanded upon it and Stern let him go.
Really a great movie...
Oh, and being from Pittsburgh, and seeing Barry Bonds in a Pirates uniform was surreal. I hate his guts, but I remember that when he played here, he was just a great player who underacheived in the playoffs.
Dr. Cynic Has Spoken
His best movie by far.
It's also the only movie he's directed.
I luved Rookie of the Year!! Daniel Stern is hilarious!! When he gives Henry advice on baseball and says stuff about hot ice "I melt the ice cubes. its the best of both worlds!" The look on Gary Busey's face and the coach is hilarious!! People who don't find him funny just don't have a sense of humor! The part on the airplane is funny too when he hits his tray and food goes flying! LOL!! I liked John Candy too! He was great!! I still miss him. He use to crack me up when I was little.
shareHelp gehelp!
