Why did they make this one PG-13?


Bad choice and part of the reason this one was so terrible.

Robocop was one of those weird movies that was marketed to kids. I think it even had its own Cartoon series. Because of that they made the third movie a PG-13.

My guess is to broaden the possible audience. It has the little girl in it from memory, and this gave me a way to watch it with my young kids who otherwise couldn't see 1 and 2.

I find myself enjoying it a lot more as an adult. I watched the special features on the Shout Factory Blu-ray and it helps put things in perspective. Writer-director Fred Dekker takes full responsibility for the final product but there's a lot more to it than that.
