Lena's husband was psycho

Seriously what a jerk, he made 7 times more than her and expected her to contribute HALF? If anything if he wanted to be "fair" he have made her contribute 1/7th of the bills. OR said "you pay utilities and groceries I'll pay the rest" or something!

I'm not sure psycho, but manipulative, and lop-sided (taken from the movie). If it had been equal I'm okay with that. But it wasn't. He treated her as less. One poster also thought that it could have been based on salary. That seems fair too, and a bit old fashioned. Men taking care of women. But you would hope that both had chosen the path. If one partner can't afford something, doesn't want something, it needs to be discussed and the resolution agreed on. Throw the money in a pot and spend it, but agree on how it's spent. Because if your partner values you less, you have no worth to them.

I would argue that Lena is a psycho herself. It just upsets me to see a person, man or woman, so damn weak. Why would you date, then marry someone like that in the first place? That type of tab keeping doesn't happen in Chinese marriages. It's as if that's the Asian writers view of Americans. This man is only this way because he's Americanized, which is a wrong perception of American marriages. I'm Asian myself, and Americanized. That's why I think that character is ridiculous. The writers pulled this husband character out of a monkey's ass. It's not believable.

I agree that Lena's husband was psycho but at least he didn't hit her like her mother, Ying-Ying's first husband did.
