Wesley Snipes is wonderful in this

Rewatched it recently & gotta say, he's absolutely fantastic in this. He looks like he's having so much fun with the role.

Steals the scene every time he's on screen. Love me a good villain & he definitely is one in this.

He certainly lights up the screen with his persona and dialogue and general interaction with machines and people around him. He steals the show, as they say.

reply

Absolutely.

He showed much more ranger and personality earlier in his career. Hell, he used to be funny. Then somewhere around when he became Blade, he BECAME that character. He has been so lifeless since then. He's great in this movie though and it's a fantastic piece of film. Highly entertaining.

reply

Definitely. He used to be way more fun & energetic in his performances

Stallone is a better actor.

reply

I agree, he's awesome in this and he's very funny too.

They should do a sequel where Spartan and Phoenix have to team up and work a case together. It would be ridiculous but is the obvious way to go.

reply

A sequel was announced 2 years ago but it appears now to be cancelled. Sylvester Stallone announced it. A sequel should just be left as fan fiction.

Snipes is one of the giants of that era. One of the greats.

Without a great villain you’ve got Jack shit. Snipes is great in this. He went above and beyond. I love it when he gets CLOCKED in his head on the hood of the Olds 442, and he just shakes his head and goes BWWWWW, just like a fucking cartoon.

Wesley Snipes as Phoenix in this movie belongs to top three MOST enjoyable, fun villains ever. I am only saying it like this because I can't remember if there might be someone even more fun, and then I'd regret making him number one.

However, he absolutel DESERVES to be number one anyway, I can only agree with the consensus here. All villains should be like this - his real-life martial arts-skills are on great display as well, the only way his fights could be better, if he did 'Jackie Chan'-like stuff, like the playground fight in 'Police Story' (almost wrote 'Police Squad!'), or the roof fights in 'Who am I'.

Amazing stuff, Snipes really proved he can be one of the most fun villains ever, and it even looks like it's so easy for him here. It looks like he's having actual FUN, and that translates to the screen VERY well. Lots thumbsies up for him here, I absolutely agree.

Yeah, but so much of this movie makes NO SENSE.
