Reasons why this was the best of all the SNL-based movies

1.) Dan Aykroyd, 'nuff said.
2.) Great supporting cast with good acting and good on-screen chemistry between the characters.
3.) Very good use of SNL alumni from prior to 1993.
4.) Very funny.
5.) Has heart and centers around family, even a weird, alien one.
6.) Memorable scenes and quotes.
7.) A great look at building on the Remulakian culture, thanks to Dan Aykroyd being given space to develop his aliens better.
8.) Decent, okay special-effects (for the time this movie was made).
9.) A fascinating look at how aliens would adapt to our culture after being stranded on earth, with hilarious results.
10.) A chance to see Beldar and Prymatt's homeworld of Remulak and what it was like.
11.) A memorable arena scene involving fighting an alien monster (with an awesomely hilarious resolution that only Dan Aykroyd could have come up with).
12.) A happy ending.
13.) Great use of pop culture music for the time.
14.) Hilarious use of alien vocabulary from the Remulakian language.

I agree with AmeriGirl26 on this one. I think Coneheads was the best of all SNL based movies. The Blues Brothers was also very good, but Coneheads just had me laughing more. The film had tons of SNL stars in it and the story, although extremely silly, had heart to it. Great film.

Sorry folks, nothing tops Wayne's World.

I tried watching "Blue's Brothers," but it was sooooo boring beyond the scene with the "penguin" nun who raised them. "Coneheads" is light-years better than that.

Funny, as I was reading this I just about seared the top of my neck hole with the molten lactate extract of hoofed mammals from a re-radiated leftover starch disc.
