Ok. The film is good. No issues here. But i find it hard to believe a guy looking like Al in this film is after a girl like Gail. The only thing going for her is the young age, somewhat innocent look or smth. But overall i dont find her attractive. And i dont mean it as in some, she doesnt look i dont even know who or what to say. I just kept saying during the film, a guy like that could do much better than Gail.
I don't find her hot at all, but here in southern California an average looking chick is a 10 out east . we are spoiled with the best looking women on the planet per capita by far
Carlito would be lucky to ever get a girl like gail half his age and thats why he was always missing her and wanting to get out to be with a girl like her.
P. Miller is an angel and had me once I saw the shadow.
I have to agree with the OP. Penelope Ann Miller was attractive but, casting couldn’t do any better? In Scarface, you had Michelle Pfeiffer and then Penelope Ann Miller? It’s like going from a Lamborghini to a Chevy!
You're a moron. Michelle Pfeiffer is only with Scarface 'cos of his success, Penelope is meant to genuinely be in love with Carlito, it wouldn't make sense to make her look like a 10/10 gold-digging whore.
Plus comparing anyone woman to prime Pfeiffer is unfair. How many women can you name that's hotter than prime Pfeiffer.
Also in Scarface he bought her off. In way he was looking for a good girl.
Exactly. And you could totally see she isn't invested in the relationship and there's no true love there.
This is the same kind of toxic relationship as Ginger and Sam (Sharon Stone and Robert de Niro) in Casino. Only one person is really into it and desperately thinks that he could change her and makes her fall in love with him. They then spend a lot of money on them and give them all the luxury in the world wrongfully thinking that it could buy love.
But in the end, unsurprisingly, it doesn't work out and it wasn't worth it.
In Carlito's Way, at least, the relationship is honest and I would take any day over the other option.
Interesting thread, lots of differing opinions and some rather haha-funny answers..
“Im sorry but i dont find Gail attractive.”
No need to apologize for not finding her attractive, everyone has different tastes...she certainly wasn’t unattractive....besides, with all due respect, you weren’t cast as the lead...the lead properly conveyed his attraction to her and, therefore, she’s attractive, at least to him...now, whether she should’ve been cast in the first place, that’s an entirely different argument that’s been discussed ad nauseam on this board...I didn’t have a problem with her being cast, I thought she did fine...I realize not all the criticisms of her casting are related to her looks, but saying she shouldn’t have been cast because she wasn’t “hot” enough or she was “plain” is a pointless argument...I hate to sound pious (probably too late), but unless she was a zitfaced, dogshyt-nasty women who neither shaved nor used deodorant, I see no problem with casting Penelope Ann Miller, who has a nice complexion, was far from nasty, and presumably showed up to set cleanly shaved and smelling like roses (or whatever smells great)
P.s.- I didn’t mean to offend anyone who likes hairy, acne-ridden, smelly women...once again, whatever floats your balls, that’s cool....

Exactly! I don't get the point of this complain neither.
I liked her a lot. That scene when she bumps into the gangster in the nightclub and dances with
him is one of my favourite scenes in any movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBoYmJ6oZp0
