Im sorry but i dont find Gail attractive.

Ok. The film is good. No issues here. But i find it hard to believe a guy looking like Al in this film is after a girl like Gail. The only thing going for her is the young age, somewhat innocent look or smth. But overall i dont find her attractive. And i dont mean it as in some, she doesnt look i dont even know who or what to say. I just kept saying during the film, a guy like that could do much better than Gail.

Carlito could do a lot worse than Gail. Much, much worse.

I think they're both probably equal attractiveness. Al Pacino is past his prime in this whereas she is young, she has a good figure and I think an attractive face - Al Pacino definitely has a certain sexiness though. There really is no accounting for taste though

Pacino is a midget & a buck 30 soaking wet

The dancing lady who reminds Carlito of Gail is way better looking than the actual Gail 

You're kidding right? She has a perfect youthful face with a bright eye color, she's tall, she's white, long legs, perfect cans, wide hips, gorgeous legs etc. And when she seduced Carlito in front of her door, that was one of the sexiest scenes in cinema history.

Yeah I'm not super into blondes but I have to agree with your post.

“Oh. You’re Blonde. I can’t sleep with you.”

You don’t get much, do you?

She could be gruesome but I'm not sure what that has to do with the movie. Doesn't affect the plot at all.

Any man that can get a woman 20 years younger than him is an attractive woman.

What?

I don't know what De Palma was thinking in casting Penelope Ann Miller in this role. She is as plain as day and has a bland non-charismatic screen presence. Compare her to the terrific Michelle Pfeiffer in De Palma's SCARFACE-83' and there is no comparison. Carlito's scenes with her really slowed the film down in parts, in what was otherwise an intriguing and compelling morality tale. All she was, was dressing, so the audience wouldn't think Carlito was gay.

I never got women like this Gail character anyway, who think that they can change a man and mould him into something that she thinks he should be. It was an phony relationship and Carlito knew he couldn't escape his past, yet wouldn't let go of her.

In all fairness, Gail wasn't trying to change Carlito---he himself had already decided to make some major changes in his life once he got out of jail. And those changes included getting back with her and continuing their relationship, since she was clearly good for him. The only thing she did was tell him he should stay away from his drug addict lawyer friend, who even Carlito himself admitted was a pretty sketchy and untrustworthy dude---ironically, she turned out to be so right about that.

As for her attractiveness, I think Miller had a unique look--not your typical-looking Hollywood ingenue at that time, which may have been partly why she was cast. And she wasn't a stick figure, which was refreshing, too.

She was attractive enough for...Al Pacino.

They had an affair during the film.

She confirmed it later.
