It premiered 30 years tomorrow.

I was only 11, but it doesn't seem that long ago. I remember when people used to say "30 years ago", they were talking about the 50s or 60s. Now, it's the 90s and that is horrifying.

Time is funny like that.

Movies like The Faculty and Bride of Chucky are turning 25 years old this year. They're now right at the mid point between 1973 and the present, so they are as close in time to The Exorcist and The Wicker Man as they are to 2023 releases. Which feels bizarre.

The Ring is 21 years old now, it was released 20 years after The Thing.

Scream is now 27 years old, it came out a measly 9 years after Hellraiser, A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Lost Boys & Evil Dead II. It's three times as close to those movies as it is to the present. For comparison 27 years prior to Scream's release it was 1969. So Scream is nearly as close in time to Night of the Living Dead and Rosemary's Baby as it is to today.

Thats like How Cleopatra lived closer to the time of the Iphone than she did to the time of the building of the Great Pyramids!

That's more frightening than anything on the show! I remember it so well. I was hooked from the start (although I soon got fed up with the alien conspiracy thing - I preferred the 'monster of the week' episodes).

I have solid memories of watching a new episode airing next to my Father and Mother in the kitchen. And then being so excited to see what happens next week! Scary and fascinating and time spent with family.

I remember my Dad playing a joke on me saying "Hey knock that roach off the TV"! During the episode with all the "killer cockroaches". Turns out the crawling roach was on the show and the showrunners knew just what to do to freak us out! My Dad laughed when I tried swatting it with a newspaper to no avail : )

Christ I'm old.

And you're right, the time has flown by.

The X Files will always be one of my favourite series. I remember waiting, during the last seasons, for the Mondays to see a new chapter.

Really makes you feel old. I was an 18 year old kid when this premiered. I remember at the time i was much more interested in Bruce Campbells Brisco County JR which preceded it.
