The Last Jedi of the X-files

- Entirely trashes of the ending of the previous episode, and make it look everything in that was in vain.
- Pointless and lame case scene in the mid section.
- Scenes too long without a reason, while more important ones suffering from being rushed.
- Characters acting strange and out of place (Mulder & Skinner bullying like highschool kids, Mulder cutting throat...)
- Trashing the main villain's premise, like it was not important at all (Cigarette sNokEing man now doesen't seem disfigured at all, though it was the only excuse of his survival, and even it wasn't seem enough)
- Confusing what was real before, what wasn't (flashback scenes, CSM again)
- Entirely makes us think that stuff were important before, are no longer important, so everything could happen.
- Characters identity are now not what we were made to think are.
- Audience now scratching their heads, what could possibly happen next time. / Could it be fixed somehow?

Also, the ending was like: "Okay, the whole Earth seems to be wiped out very soon for sure, but let's pretend it's not important yet, so we could go back casing b-grade monsters for another season, let's crack a joke!"
(note that i now only have faith in those b-grade monsters...)

P.S.:
- Chris Carter seems to be the George Lucas AND Disney of the X-files now in one person.

Why, oh why?

Because the X files is an entertaining show and disregards expectation. But now you found this out you can tune in to something more fitting, right? How about those DC comics based TV shows? As I understand some people like those too.

reply

It's not about the meeting of the expectations. I love X-files, have seen all the episodes, and still watching everything new. I just realized a pattern among these new "trends". Also, curious about the way they think. Like, when you love your own creation, and it seems you are not able to keep it consistent, or maybe you don't even bother anymore, i'm not sure.
Still, i've always been an optimistic person, hell, i'm even excited about Indiana Jones 5, cause the same happened with the 4th. I'm the person who'll never give up believing that people like Spielberg could realize what went wrong, what faults he made, bracing himself and do something in sake of redemption. :)
(ps: i'm not really watching anything DC or Marvel. Guess i'm too olt for that shit)

This was a stand alone episode meant to be social commentary, not a Myth-Arc driven episode. It was a gift to the fans and not meant to be seen through a microscope. I enjoyed it entirely.

I think he's talking about the premiere episode and not the latest one. (The Lost Art Of Forehead Sweat, which was a masterpiece)

He posted this like 3 weeks ago.

Ah, okay. That first episode was such a big nothing I don't even remember what happened in it. It eventually ended up with, lets do X-Files until something else happens. or not. it was a place setter.

I think I'm suffering from the Mengele effect regarding My Struggle 3, the Wrath of Khan....

reply

Yes, seemed completely OOC for Mulder. Th first ep was a bomb.
I am enjoying subsequent episodes.

reply

Yeah, it was exactly about My Struggle 3, the season opener. My fault i didn't titled the topic properly.
I'm loving the humor driven episodes, especially Darin Morgan's ones. Though, i'm yet to check the latest.

Does that make last season the Force Awakens of Xfiles?
