That Essence Atkins was fired for Tiffani Amber Theissen to return. They could have easily fired one of the other girls, but no they had to fire the only African American character on the show so they can add another white character this was done out of racism plain and simple. And it was a good thing this show was cancelled :)

I thought that EA's character was way too much like Lisa & I don't think that the show needed another one. They could have just brought Lisa back on. Back then I had a friend that was a member of Lark Voohries fan club and she had showed me a letter that she got from Lark saying that send this to the directors so that they can put Lisa on the college show. So when I read that LV didn't want to be on the college show, I showed my friend the article and she was surprised.

shareEssence left the show after the pilot, thats why it is a pilot. most shows rarely keep the same actors fromt he pilots, its about finding the right fit.
They filmed the pilot, she left before it ever even aired and left to go star on SMART GUY... that is the real reason she left, to star on a different show, where she was a better fit. and i am so glad she left this show, she was hilarious on smart guy. plain and simple. it wasnt a race thing....
had it been she could have sued and won. but since she left willingly to star on a better show that was starting up...

Maybe she was the weakest actress or character. I'm so sick of people crying racism all the time. And I am sick of the idea that every show has to have a prominent black character or else they are bigots. Getting actors who can act is more important than getting actors to represent every color of the rainbow. Well, it's supposed to be anyway.

As for my "big stars" comment, I said they are not going to fire big stars with big potential, meaning if Atkins had that at the time, they would have kept her (to oppose the racism argument, as if even if the producers were racist, they would have kept her if she had potential star power). Mario is the biggest star of the bunch. Mark-Paul, Tiffani, and Alex have all popped up here and there on major network television and are bigger stars than Atkins. She carved a nice niche for herself in black shows and movies, and there is a need for that, so she is doing well too. She is damn hot too.

Franklin and Bash. He was on another called "Raising the Bar" as well. He has a nice resume of network TV as well. More successful than most actors, that is for sure.
