Kelsey Grammar is the only straight male actor on the show, right?

Niles/David Hyde Pierce = Gay
Martin/John Mahoney = Gay
Bulldog/Dan Butler = Gay
Gil/Edwin Hibbert = Gay

Plus, I believe the creators/writers Angell(RIP), Casey, and Lee are Gay as well.

David Angell was straight.

Chopper Dave = straight 

reply

Eddie was probably straight.

reply

Yeah, I don't recall him humping anyone's leg.

reply

It is funny that Kelsey has described his Frasier character as "slightly gay" or words to that effect.

reply

I don't ever recall him saying that. Frasier's a pretty masculine and cultured dude.

reply

Tom McGowan who played Kenny appears to be heterosexual

The actors may have been gay but they all played straight well, including Edward Hibbert, lets not forget he did "in" himself

Could not tell from this episode. Remember it?

It was called The Doctor Is Out.

reply

Frasier was definitely Metrosexual.

Having said that, I really really LOVED the episode with Patrick Stewart as Alistair Burke, they really made the most adorable couple. Frasier almost considered turning gay for him LOL

I really laughed a lot during that episode. Classic!

Maybe we need more gays in TV if they're going to contribute to shows as good as this.

John Mahoney said he had a colostomy bag, and had had for some time, and just didn't feel comfortable having intimate relationships. But the Alphabet Squad had to claim him as gay after he died and couldn't say anything.

They had an episode where he was getting a massage, and the towel they draped over him was unusually high. That would have accommodated a colostomy bag.

I would have expected some creep to come out of the woodwork and announce to the world that he was John Mahoney's long-time lover. None showed up. He apparently was a devout Catholic and prayed before every performance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Mahoney

It's sickening that the Alphabet Squad has to claim everyone who never got married, particularly when they've addressed and answered the question.

reply

Correct, Mahoney was straight. Don’t know where the OP got the idea he was gay from (he wrote it before Mahoney’s death and subsequent claiming by the Alphabet Squad) 🤷🏻‍♂️

reply

Some people think anyone who isn't married has to be gay.

reply

Gay or a leftie.

reply

I don’t get why so many people think it is their right to know everything about a celebrity.

Richard Simmons just passed and once again they had to make comments about his boyfriends. The man basically lived alone and he never discussed his private life in public. People have a right to privacy, they don’t have to advertise their every move to the public.

reply

Exactly. But if they've made a statement about why they've never married, going after the guy after he's dead and saying he bats for this team when he's said he's on the other team really fries my hide. Poor man, let his word be the final word. And, as you say, if he's given no word, possibly it's because he thinks it's none of our business. Which it isn't, unless he chooses to share.

I loved David Hyde Pierce's response to the question of his sexuality early on, from a TV Guide reporter. He wouldn't give her an answer. She suggested he had something to hide. "My life's an open book," he told her. "I just don't intend to read it to you."

He was wonderful even without a script!

reply

Exactly! Never heard that comment by David Hyde Pierce. But he is spot on. Just letting people know that his private life is none of their business.
