Having said that, I really really LOVED the episode with Patrick Stewart as Alistair Burke, they really made the most adorable couple. Frasier almost considered turning gay for him LOL
I really laughed a lot during that episode. Classic!
John Mahoney said he had a colostomy bag, and had had for some time, and just didn't feel comfortable having intimate relationships. But the Alphabet Squad had to claim him as gay after he died and couldn't say anything.
They had an episode where he was getting a massage, and the towel they draped over him was unusually high. That would have accommodated a colostomy bag.
I would have expected some creep to come out of the woodwork and announce to the world that he was John Mahoney's long-time lover. None showed up. He apparently was a devout Catholic and prayed before every performance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Mahoney
It's sickening that the Alphabet Squad has to claim everyone who never got married, particularly when they've addressed and answered the question.
Correct, Mahoney was straight. Don’t know where the OP got the idea he was gay from (he wrote it before Mahoney’s death and subsequent claiming by the Alphabet Squad) 🤷🏻♂️
I don’t get why so many people think it is their right to know everything about a celebrity.
Richard Simmons just passed and once again they had to make comments about his boyfriends. The man basically lived alone and he never discussed his private life in public. People have a right to privacy, they don’t have to advertise their every move to the public.
Exactly. But if they've made a statement about why they've never married, going after the guy after he's dead and saying he bats for this team when he's said he's on the other team really fries my hide. Poor man, let his word be the final word. And, as you say, if he's given no word, possibly it's because he thinks it's none of our business. Which it isn't, unless he chooses to share.
I loved David Hyde Pierce's response to the question of his sexuality early on, from a TV Guide reporter. He wouldn't give her an answer. She suggested he had something to hide. "My life's an open book," he told her. "I just don't intend to read it to you."
