The First Time You Heard About or Experienced Brisco County, Jr.

When was the first time you heard about or experienced the show?

I thank my Grandmother for having it on one day when I was around. I had just seen Army of Darkness on video at a friend's house, before that, I'd never even seen or heard of Bruce Campbell. I walked by the T.V. and there he was, I immediately recognized him. I asked my Grandmother what she was watching and from the day forward I was hooked. I journeyed down the entire Bruce Campbell/Sam Raimi path after that and came back a happy camper. My Grandmother loved the show, still does to this day. Brisco became my favorite show of all time and Bruce became my favorite Actor...which I'm proud to say he still is to this day. Bruce was even kind enough to send me an autographed picture (I hope it was Bruce who sent it) after I sent him a letter while the show was still airing. The show just hit all the rights chords for me. Now it's on DVD...this is awesome! Thanks Bruce!

3 years ago I found the complete series dvd at Costco for around $12-$15. I was already a fan of Bruce Campbell, so I decided I'd give it a shot for the price. I wasn't disappointed!

Watched it when it originally aired. I also recorded the entire series on VHS when it originally aired so that I could watch them anytime I wanted. Then I bought the DVD set when it was released.

I work in retail and one of my co-workers said to me, "Hey Chris, you should buy this. It's not in the system and its only $12." I asked him to bring it over and there it was. The complete series of Brisco County Jr. I'd only vaguely remembered hearing about it as a child. And here it was staring me in the face. I figured for $12, it might just pay off. And so far it has. Bruce Campbell for the win.

I never heard of it until I read Bruce Campbell's memoir, If Chins Could Kill, in which he dedicates a chapter to the process of making the show, from auditioning to cancellation. A few years later it came out on DVD. I snatched it up when it went on sale online for something like $25 (at the time it was going for three times as much; of course now you can find it at Walmart for ten bucks).

Thinking back, it's funny my dad didn't watch it when it first aired in '93. I was 6 at the time and watched shows like Star Trek: TNG, The Rifleman, and the '90s reboot of Zorro with him. Brisco would have been the perfect show for us to enjoy together.
