Gus killed the bully. I'm sorry, but seeing a child killed disturbs me. And the way he was killed and the way he looked afterwards. That scene disturbed me along with him killing the dog.
Eminem-I don't give a *beep*, God sent me to piss the world off!
There is a thread like this for every movie in which a kid dies. It was meant to be disturbing. It's a horror movie, not a family flick. Get over it. And if you can't get over it, then stop watching horror movies.
I wasn't disturbed, because it was a fictional character. If it was real, yeah it would be horrible. If I watched movies with the viewpoint of a real life situation, I wouldn't watch horror films, cause they would be too terrible to watch. But, the actor obviously survived the ordeal, so I'm not bothered in the slightest.
Dude I can handle horror films. So what if people find it disturbing to see a kid die in a movie? People get disturbed when an animal dies in a film all the time. Chill.
Yes, it's such a darkly comic film, VERY DARKLY comic, lol. But, the scene is disturbingly effective as is the part where;
Gus drives over the potato > Drives all over the road > Camera glides across autumn leaves to Clyde's bloody face, Cool little music cue over those shots.

I am always upset by animal deaths in films. I don't think it makes me a horrible person...I just think people like myself are more empathetic towards caring for animals and we know how dependent and innocent they are so to see them hurt or injured it a low blow. It's the same thing with babies. You rarely see a baby actually KILLED on screen. I can't really think of that many times aside from Feast 2 when they throw the baby to the monster...which was comical yet still rough to watch.
Also...on the bully...it's weird because we, as viewers, are meant to hate the bully and almost root for his death. In this film, I didn't feel bad for him at all. But, one incident of "on-screen bully-death" that I remember being traumatic was from Rob Zombie's Halloween. That scene in the beginning...God, that was brutal. I felt bad for the bully. It was pretty extreme. I think it's a case of how the material is being portrayed. Pet Sematary 2 IS more quirky horror and it's done kind of comically...whereas Rob Zombie is very literal, graphic, raw horror.
I did not really feel bad for the bully because all throughout the movie he basically terrorized....forgot his name...the main character. He seemed to be almost as sadistic as Gus. So, when Gus punched him, he definitely deserved it. When he got killed, maybe that was taking it a bit too far, but it's a campy horror movie, pretty much expected.
I was more disturbed when the mom and the son died together in the car. I secretly wish they were found clinging onto life, and they somehow survive. F the bully...
