The one flaw with this movie - the relationship with Hiroko
I like the movie overall: it's about as good as Little Big League, Rookie of the Year, Mr 3000, Angels in the Outfield
The only big flaw is Tom Selleck's relationship with Hiroko.
Firstly - the whole relationship felt rushed. She randomly asks to interview him or something at his hotel room, and 2 dates later, they are having sex.
Secondly - there was far too much coincidence for Hiroki to be the manager's daughter.
Thirdly -- Selleck was too old for her. He was 46-47 in real life, and his character was supposed to be in his mid-late 30s. Hiroki was 29 at the time, and her character in this film is supposed to be in her 20s.
Fourthly -- the romance scenes took away from the baseball scenes and the redemption plot, which were the main draws.
Lastly-- if Selleck's character was going to go back to the States at the end, then why have him marry a Japanese woman who he has known for just 2-3 months?
