Jack's agent

Why does Jack's agent (who is a ridiculous looking 90s man) get so happy when the Dragons win the final game? His celebration seems excessive considering that thoughout the movie he puts down Jack for having to play in Japan. Also I doubt a big time agent would care who won/loss the game in Japan. I assume he is just a bad actor. His enthusiasm seems way over the top considering the situation.

Because that guy who was with him was looking for a power player to play for the L.A. Dodgers. He knew that if the Dragons won, especially in any small part to Jack, his client would get a contract, which would mean more money for him and a happy client in Jack.

Real love is FOREVER!!!!

Agree that he was doing whatever he could to make Jack stand out to the Dodgers executive, though I'm sure the exec probably had a pretty deep knowledge and understanding of the game anyway. He may have gotten caught up in the excitement of the game as a fan. Like Jack, the agent was very dismissive of Japanese baseball at first ("You're hitting under .200, Jack! In JAPAN, Jack!"), but seeing it up close may have changed his opinion

For some reason that guy reminds me of the guy who plays Data in Star Trek.

is that a good thing?
