Did anybody else not get the whole 'Oreo Line' thing as a kid?

I know how offensive the term is looking back and I realized what it meant. However, as a kid, I mostly associated Oreo with the cookie brand. I did not think it was a racist term as a kid. I remember asking my uncle what it meant and he said that it was a racist term and that I shouldn't be talking about it. I didn't understand until later.

All I need is one mic...

I was 10 when I saw this movie and understood that line perfectly. It was really racist as much as it was pointing out that a white guy was inbetween two black guys, like an oreo cookie. Of course that would never fly in a PG Disney movie now.

"If I'm wrong, I'll pay for it. But if I'm right you're gonna hear about it."

I thought it was comical, not meant to be racist at all!

yea i just rewatched it today and didnt realize it back when i was a kid how racist that is. but still funny lol

i agree with the person that said that they would never get away with saying that nowadays.

I know the "blue balls" joke during their science class sailed clear over my head when i first watched this movie at age 8.

Just gotta keep on livin.. L-i-v-i-n

Haha! Yeah, "Oreo Line" and "blue balls" took me a while until I understood.

I got the line immediately. The woke mob today would express outrage

reply

Yes, but aren't you experiencing the line through adult eyes? That's not what this thread is about
