Could have done without the epilogue

The narrator, the kids declaring themselves as Malcolm X and the cameo by Nelson Mandela all felt like Spike Lee was laying it on a little thick at the ending. The events in the movie speak for themselves. If his intentions were to show how important a figure Malcolm X still is, I'm sure there were better and more subtle ways to do it. At least, more subtle than what we got. Otherwise, it's a good movie.

The eulogy was fine, and the end of it would've been a good place to end the film. Or, after the eulogy, the Mandela/Malcolm statement. The kids' sequence was far too preachy, heavy-handed, and frankly, cheapened the ending.

You are insane! The epilogue was one of the most poignant things about the movie. You know that thus man did not need to die and if was his own people that killed him.

You do understand what epilogue means, right? And you have no trouble with understanding basic English? I said the eulogy -- what was most of the epilogue -- was fine. So was Mandela. It was the kids yelling "I am Malcolm X" that was cheesy and preachy. Try reading my post again.

I think it was there so as not to end the movie on such a grim note (the assassination).

The movie lost me when those kids yelled "I am Malcolm X!", totally annoying and unnecessary.

The opening and ending were the most powerful moments in the movie, fool
