The sequel to Avatar just surpassed the total box office (adjusted for inflation) of Lorenzo’s Oil. That’s something I honestly didn’t see happening, but I suppose Cameron works hard and thus deserves his success. That said, it probably didn’t hurt that he carried over more than a few of the themes from Lorenzo’s Oil into his own film.

Yeah, it is a weird situation. Like I said, though, Cameron deserves his success.

Avatar is decent as far as family-friendly sci-fi goes, but I just wish he had followed the tradition set forth by George Miller in Lorenzo's Oil.
