Watching it in 4K

So crisp, but the colours were washed out, so I had to adjust them.

Other than that, pretty amazing job removing all scratches from the film, adding frames, etc.

The 4K UHD disc is widely considered to be a total disaster.

Please elaborate.

They basically used the left eye of the 3D master - which scrubbed away all of the natural grain, which kills all of the detail and texture in the image, so it looks waxy and fake. The user review at the top of this page goes into more detail...

I'll have to give it another look.

Scrubbed grain, artificial sharpening, edge enhancement - all the processes that ruin a film, plus you’re forced to watch the theatrical version - which I personally cannot watch since being spoiled by the director’s cut.

Why do James Cameron's 4K Movies Look So Ugly?

Joblo dives into the history of James Cameron's 4K releases and why they look so ugly. Did using AI to enhance footage actually make it worse? Find out in this video!

I just hope one day before 4K discs end that they release a better-looking Special Edition 4K. It's such a fantastic movie but very disappointing that it looked so terrible and it wasn't the SE.

I thought they did it as the theatrical version only so they could re-release it at a later stage as the SE to milk some more money from us, but it hasn't happened.

For as many releases T2 has had on home video I think it'll get redone in the future. First to redo the 4k remaster of the theatrical cut but also the director's cut.

As long as there is breath in his lungs Cameron will make sure there are no decent quality 4K versions of his classics, he hates them and wants you to watch his shitty eco-Smurf films instead.

He has systematically ruined his classics on the UHD format. The only one that’s passable is The Abyss, and even that was grain-scrubbed to hell. True Lies had it the worst with disgusting AI processing that makes people’s faces look weird, Aliens too.

The last blu-ray versions are the way to go, and in the case of True Lies you’ll want to download the earlier HD Disney+ version.

It was made for VHS!

Hey just watch the regular Special Edition dvd u know. It's in really great condition & grain is still there so it's looking natural like inside the theater did.
